If you are spending more than one day in Iceland, Golden circle is usually the obvious choice. Golden circle is the route that goes from Reykjavik goes all the way to Gulfoss and back in a loop covering some of the most beautiful waterfalls and landscapes.
What to see in Golden Circle?
Here are some of the key attractions in the Golden Circle loop:
Thingvellir national park - This national park has been gr
anted the UNESCO World Heritage status. Its absolute stunning gorges are worth a visit. Almannagja gorge is one of the key attractions in this park. This is where the "Game of Thrones" was shot. It has a beautiful path to walk and look at the landscape and the historical importance.

You can also walk to Oxfarafoss from here. Its a board walk and its a beautiful waterfalls
Geysers - The hot geysers are in the Haukadalur area. It is a pretty popular spot with some great geysers erupting every few minutes

Gullfoss - The most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland is Gulfoss. There are 2 observatory decks - one is the upper and the other is the lower. I highly recommend checking both out as its very much worth it.
Kerid Crater - This is a volcanic crater on the way back to Reykjavik. It has a nice hiking path on the rim and you can also go down to the lake. It is very beautiful and it takes you about 45 mins to an hour for this visit.

If you have more than a day, I recommend you stay a night at Laugarvatn or Strokkur. Laugarvatn fontana is a very nice geothermal bath and a wonderful way to spend the evening.
