Visiting North Iceland

One of the best places to view amazing northern lights and whale watching is North Iceland. Husavik has an airport and you can fly directly to there or drive the ring road to get to north Iceland.

Things to do in North Iceland

Husavik - Husavik is called the whale capital of Iceland. The bay is wonderful for a walk with beautiful stores and restaurants. Catch a sunset while you get some food or better yet set sail for whale watching during sunset. You can book the whale watching ahead of time here.

Myvatn - Myvatn is a volcanic lake about an hour from Husavik. The lake is so blue and beautiful. You can book ahead of time if you want to use the nature baths or spa.

You can also book tours to cover Godafoss and Myvatn here.

Godafoss - This is a beautiful horseshoe-shaped waterfall near Akureyri. Its a short walk from the parking and an absolutely stunning waterfall

Detifoss - This is the second most powerful waterfall in Europe. You need a 4x4 to visit this waterfall but its totally worth the drive.

Akureyri - Akureyri is a small town in north Iceland with tours to various attractions nearby. It's also the perfect place if you want to go horseback riding. The church in Akureyri is very beautiful and the market street by the church is a fun place to hang out.
